Team Selkirk made an impact on day three of main draw play, with Catherine Parenteau, Jack Sock, James Ignatowich, and Rafael Lenhard dominating in singles in the morning.
Catherine Parenteau kicked off play with a match on Grandstand against fellow Canadian Genie Bouchard. The two have now faced off three times, with all victories going to Parenteau. After a tight first game, Parenteau rallied to win 9–11, 11–5, 11–7. She will face No. 2 seed Kate Fahey for a spot in Semifinal Saturday.
Sock brings electric to Championship Court
Jack Sock took to Championship Court to face his Phoenix Flames teammate, Tyson McGuffin. McGuffin entered the match as the favorite, holding the No. 6 seed compared to Sock’s No. 9. The teammates delivered electrifying plays and humorous moments, but Sock ultimately secured the win in straight games, 11–5, 11–6. He will next face Connor Garnett for a spot on Saturday. The two have met four times previously, with the head-to-head record evenly split.
Emerging Pro Lenhard three-peats the upsets
Rafael Lenhard once again made headlines, this time by defeating the Frenchman, No. 13 seed Noe Khlif. Known for his agility and tricky plays, Khlif was no match for Lenhard’s precise shot selection and explosive playstyle. After dropping the first game, Lenhard responded with a pickle in game two before closing it out 11–7 in game three. His biggest test yet will be against Christian Alshon, as he looks to reach his first-ever Semifinal Saturday.
Parenteau, Rohrabacher cruise into the quarters
Catherine Parenteau and Rachel Rohrabacher repeated their Atlanta Slam victory by defeating the Walker sisters for a second consecutive tournament. It took just 46 minutes for Parenteau and Rohrabacher to dismantle the sisters in straight games, 11–5, 11–3. They will face the hometown heroes, the Brascia sisters, on Championship Court this Friday.
