If you’ve played with a Selkirk pro ball before, the S2 Pro will look familiar, but feel completely different.
It keeps the 38-hole count of previous models, but almost everything else has changed: how it’s made, how the holes are sized, how it bounces, and even its color.
The goal was simple. Build a ball that stays round, flies true, and plays like a tournament ball from the first game to the last. Here’s what changed and what it means for your game.
A ball that stays round longer
What changed: Previous models were made with rotomolding. The S2 Pro uses true-round injection molding.
What it means for you: A ball that goes out of round doesn’t announce itself. You just start seeing bad bounces, shots that skid or pop up when they shouldn’t, and dinks that die unexpectedly.
Injection molding gives the S2 Pro a more uniform shell, so it holds its spherical shape longer and resists cracking around the holes, even after hard drives and overheads.
That means fewer “was that the ball or was that me?” moments.
Truer flight with a new hole pattern
What changed: Previous models used 38 holes of the same size. The S2 Pro keeps 38 holes but uses three sizes: 7.5 mm, 6.5 mm, and 4 mm, arranged in a patented geodesic pattern.
What it means for you: The varied hole sizes spread the ball’s mass evenly and help it cut through wind with no mid-air wobble. Your drives hold their line, your lobs land where you aimed them, and your resets don’t drift. The hole layout also helps reduce stress around each hole, which means fewer cracks.
A faster, tournament-style feel
What changed: Previous models had a hard feel with a medium pace and balanced speed. The S2 Pro has a harder, faster, tournament-style feel built for competitive play.
What it means for you: The S2 Pro rewards aggressive players. Drives come off the paddle with more pace, and put-aways are harder to defend. If you play in tournaments, practicing with a competition ball helps you prepare for the speed of game day.
A higher bounce
What changed: Previous models had a low bounce. The S2 Pro has a high bounce.
What it means for you: A higher bounce gives you a little more time to get set. Third-shot drives and returns sit up in a more hittable zone, which suits players who like to play offense.
Easier to see
What changed: Previous models were matte green. The S2 Pro is a brighter yellow.
What it means for you: A brighter ball is easier to track off the paddle, against the sky, and across different court colors and lighting. That helps you react sooner in fast exchanges at the kitchen line.
A warranty that covers more
What changed: Previous models came with a 1-year no-crack warranty. The S2 Pro adds out-of-round coverage with an industry-first 1-Year No-Crack, Out-of-Round Warranty.
What it means for you: Cracking is the obvious way a ball fails. Warping is the one most players don’t notice until their game feels off. The S2 Pro’s warranty covers both, so if your ball cracks or goes out of round within a year, Selkirk will make it right.
Is the S2 Pro right for you?
The S2 Pro is built for competitive practice and tournament-level play. If you like a fast game, play in tournaments, or want a ball that holds up through long sessions, it’s made for you.
If you preferred the balanced, medium pace of previous models, expect the S2 Pro to play faster and bounce higher. Give yourself a session or two to adjust your soft game.
