This week, 64 universities will compete in the DUPR Collegiate National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. Teams from the University of North Carolina, the University of Virginia, and Utah Tech University are the only programs to have previously claimed the title, with Utah Tech looking to defend its championship this year.
Eleven Team Selkirk athletes will be competing at Collegiate Nationals, representing ten different universities. Here are some of the rising talents to keep an eye on:
Mary Monson – Utah Tech University
At just 16 years old, Mary Monson dominated the APP U.S. Collegiate National Championships at the end of last month. She is the youngest athlete to win titles in both women’s singles and doubles at the collegiate level. Monson will represent Utah Tech University as the team aims to secure back-to-back championships.
Monson’s paddle of choice is the Selkirk Labs Project 008 in the Tour shape.
Mehvish Safdar – Indiana University Bloomington
Mehvish Safdar is a former Division I tennis player at the University of Minnesota. Now, she competes for Indiana University’s collegiate pickleball team, the Monsoons, with hopes of capturing their first DUPR team title. In addition to her collegiate play, Safdar is signed to the PPA Tour and is set to make her Major League Pickleball debut with the Utah Black Diamonds.

Safdar's preferred paddle is the Selkirk Vanguard Control in the Invikta shape.
