How is the Boomstik different from the SLK ERA Power?
Boomstik is a more powerful paddle using next-generation materials. It’s designed as the ultimate power option.
The $200 SLK ERA remains a fantastic performer, and both will live side-by-side in our lineup to offer power paddles for different preferences.
Will Boomstik go mainline?
No. The Boomstik pickleball paddle is a Selkirk LABS-exclusive product that will continue to evolve over time.
What is the MOI Tuning System? Is it just weight?
MOI stands for Moment of Inertia and refers to the paddle’s weight distribution — not just its overall weight.
Selkirk’s MOI Tuning System moves weight away from the core and redistributes it precisely to the outer edges, optimizing stability and balance. Unlike lead tape, this system allows us to maintain a consistent static weight while maximizing sweet spot and paddle performance.
The result: The most stable and balanced paddle experience, at stock weight, on the market.
How should the Boomstik pickleball paddle be cleaned?
For best results, clean the paddle surface with a microfiber cloth and either alcohol or a mild detergent.
Do not use raw carbon cleaning blocks!
Is edge tape recommended for this paddle?
No, edge tape is not recommended for the Boomstik.
What are the main features that set Boomstik apart?
BoomCore™ Construction:
Boomstik is the first Selkirk paddle to feature the innovative BoomCore™ — a core system made of PureFoam surrounded by an EVA Power Ring. This delivers explosive power with exceptional durability, ensuring you get maximum performance without core crush or the need for a break-in period.
MOI Tuning System:
Selkirk’s semi-permanent perimeter-weighted MOI Tuning System is pre-tuned for the maximum sweet spot and optimal paddle balance right out of the box. By precisely shifting weight to the edges, Boomstik delivers increased stability, forgiveness, and a consistently massive sweet spot—without needing to add lead tape.
InfiniGrit™ Surface:
The advanced InfiniGrit™ surface triples the spin durability of traditional raw carbon, enabling up to 2,000 RPMs of spin while maintaining consistent surface performance over time.
No Break-In Required:
The paddle plays at its peak from day one, with no “core crush” over time.
Can the Boomstik be customized (grip, weight)?
Grip Customization:
The Boomstik is available in two shapes (widebody and elongated), both with longer handles for added reach and space for two-handed backhands. As with other Selkirk paddles, customers may select different grip sizes at purchase for an additional charge. Additional grip tape can be added by the player for a custom feel, but changing the physical handle or grip length is not recommended.
Weight Customization:
The MOI Tuning System is semi-permanent, pre-installed, and optimized for peak performance.
Important: Modifying, removing, or adding weight to the edge guard (such as removing the MOI Tuning weights or adding lead tape) is not recommended. The paddle is engineered for precise balance and stability straight out of the box.
Who is the Boomstik for?
The Boomstik is engineered for intermediate to advanced players who want maximum power, the largest and most forgiving sweet spot from Selkirk to date, alongside exceptional durability.
Ideal For:
- Players who favor a powerful, aggressive playstyle and want to surprise opponents with explosive shots.
- Those seeking a paddle that stays consistent in performance over time — no core breakdown or break-in period required.
- Pickleball athletes who want pro-level features and technology, including spin durability and the confidence of a ready-to-play paddle right out of the box.
Which shape will work best for my style of play?
- Widebody: Great for players who want extra forgiveness, a stable feel, and a larger sweet spot, especially on off-center hits.
- Elongated: Ideal for those who want maximum reach, additional plow-through, and even greater power on their shots.
