Parenteau, Rohrabacher lead Team Selkirk into the quarterfinals

Parenteau sets up Kaitlyn Christian showdown

Catherine Parenteau got the Round of 16 underway for Team Selkirk with a victory over Chao Yi (Zoey) Wang. The two had faced each other six times prior, with Parenteau winning four of those matches.

Parenteau’s game featured short angles and delicate drops, helping her jump out to an early 6–0 lead in both games. Her shot variety and on-court agility caused problems for Wang, who struggled to find consistency on the run.

After an 11-3, 11-7 win today, Parenteau sets up a quarterfinals clash with Kaitlyn Christian.

Parenteau, Rohrabacher breeze through second match together

The new Selkirk duo of Catherine Parenteau and Rachel Rohrabacher stepped onto the court yesterday as a first-time team. Despite a few communication mishaps—common for any new partnership—the duo played a near-perfect game, with Parenteau hitting her signature counters and Rohrabacher delivering pinpoint-accurate backhands.

In their second showing together, the duo looked much more in sync, executing high-level point construction and playing to each other’s strengths. It took just under 33 minutes for them to notch an 11–2, 11–2 win over the Walker sisters, Angie and Alex.

Parenteau and Rohrabacher will face their biggest challenge of the tournament tomorrow when they take on the No. 6 seeds, Jessie Irvine and Lacy Schneeman, for a spot in the semifinals.

Ignatowich survives three-game doubles thriller

James Ignatowich and Collin Johns were tested in the Round of 16 in a hard-hitting battle against LA Mad Drops teammates, Hunter Johnson and Quang Duong. The first two games were filled with tight points, though the 3–11 loss in the first and 11–2 win in the second for Ignatowich and Johns do not reflect that closeness.

Trailing 5–9 in game three, the momentum began to shift. Ignatowich and Johns strung together five consecutive points before Ignatowich hit an ATP winner past Johnson to seal an 11–9 win.

Ignatowich and Johns now advance to face Dekel Bar and Dylan Frazier in the quarterfinals.
