Jack Sock earned his third silver finish on Sunday, and his first at the career Grand Slam level. Sock battled Chris Haworth, who has been rising through the ranks since signing with the PPA in 2025. This marked only their second meeting on the court.
It took some time for Sock to find his rhythm, while Haworth began firing with precision right away. Down 1-6 in game one, Sock came back to tie it at 6-6 and pulled ahead 8-6 before Haworth ultimately took the game 11-8. Game two started in similar fashion, with Sock facing a 1-6 deficit. He managed to keep it close before Haworth closed it out, again winning 11-8.
If Sock proved one thing this week, it’s that he has the potential and drive to be the best. His crafty forehand looked dialed in throughout the week, as he made quarterfinal appearances across all three events. Impressively, his backhand has developed well in the offseason, serving as a weapon at times in singles. Perhaps the most noticeable improvement to his game was on the mental side, as he showed greater belief in his ability to win during tough moments.
Sock appeared to severely injure his hamstring on the final point of his singles final match, making his status for upcoming events questionable. However, with his tenacity and results thus far, he should remain a threat whenever he returns.
