Bright & Ignatowich to Face Irvine & Koller for PPA Selkirk Red Rock Open Mixed Doubles Title, Barr & Navritil Take Bronze


Day Two of the Selkirk Red Rock Open Pickleball Tournament, a prestigious event on the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour, unfolded in St. George, Utah, featuring an action-packed day of mixed doubles play. With anticipation and excitement in the air, spectators were treated to a day full of exhilarating matches, incredible comebacks, and nail-biting finishes.

The fourth-seeded team of Anna Bright & James Ignatowich stood out among the competitors, putting on a stellar performance as they went 4-0 throughout the day, earning their spot in the finals on Championship Saturday. Their remarkable combination of power and finesse made them a force to be reckoned with. James, in particular, showcased exceptional power in his two-handed backhand, thanks to his Selkirk Vanguard Power Air Invikta paddle. The dynamic duo's teamwork and communication were evident in every match.

 In the Quarterfinals, Bright & Ignatowich faced the formidable pair of Lucy Kovalova & Dekel Bar. After a strong start, winning the first game 11-4, they stumbled in the second game, losing 4-11. However, they regrouped and came back strong, taking the third game 11-5 to secure their spot in the Semifinals. Their Semifinal match was against Selkirk pro Susannah Barr & Zane Navritil, another tough team to beat. Bright & Ignatowich displayed incredible resilience and determination, winning 11-5, 6-11, 11-7, and securing their place in the finals. Off the court, their chemistry and camaraderie are evident, and they are eager to secure their first championship together. Barr & Navritil ultimately took home the bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the third-seeded Jessie Irvine & AJ Koller made their presence known, going undefeated throughout the day and booking their spot in the Championship Saturday final. Their synergy on the court, along with a combination of precise shot-making and relentless hustle, made them a formidable team. In their Quarterfinal match against Vivienne David & Brandon Long, they battled through a rollercoaster of a match, winning 11-6, 4-11, 11-4. Their teamwork shone brightly, as they maintained their composure and adjusted their strategy after the second game to secure the win.

 The Semifinal matchup for Irvine & Koller was against Andrea Koop & Riley Newman, a skilled team with great chemistry. Despite a slow start, losing the first game 8-11, Irvine & Koller demonstrated their ability to adapt, winning the next two games 11-6, 11-3. Their impressive comeback showcased their tenacity and mental fortitude, qualities that will serve them well in the final.
