It's 2014. Pickleball is still a brand-new market. Mom-and-pop brands. Clunky wooden paddles. Mike and Rob Barnes are two brothers who found the joy of pickleball at their local community center. That sparked an idea to start a new company focused on pickleball performance. With the help of their father, Jim, Selkirk Sport is founded with a mission to fuel the pickleball obsession found within every player.
From a family project to an international dynamo with over 200 employees, Selkirk is the #1 brand in pickleball with performance paddles, shoes, apparel, nets, balls, and accessories. The youngest of the Barnes brothers, Tom, became part of Selkirk Sport upon transitioning to the USMC Reserves and returning to Coeur d'Alene, ID. The inception of the company occurred while he was enlisted in the Marine Corps.
