Back in 2016, Jack Sock was featured on SportsCenter’s Top 10 Plays of the Day for hitting a tweener drop shot at the US Open against tennis legend Jo-Wilfried Tsonga. This time, Sock claimed the number one spot on the SportsCenter Top 10 with an incredibly challenging pickleball shot—an inside-out forehand around the post (an “ATP”).
It all started on Friday, when Sock teamed up with Phoenix Flames teammate Tyson McGuffin in an electrifying matchup against the Utah Black Diamonds’ Tyler Loong and Connor Garnett. Sock served from a right stack formation before hitting a perfect cross-court drop, which Garnett returned with an angled cross-court volley dink. While this would have made for a great backhand ATP opportunity for Sock, he chose instead to get around it and rip a forehand ATP with the SLK Era paddle.
Just a few days later, Sock pulled off the exact same shot combination against the Los Angeles Mad Drops’ Hunter Johnson and Quang Duong.
