Ignatowich back in action at PPA North Carolina

After a minor shoulder injury at the PPA Mesa in February James Ignatowich was forced to miss the last two tournaments but fortunately was back in action today in all three events. Let’s take a look at how the first round of the progression draws unfolded for James and the other Selkirk professionals.

Women’s Doubles: Parenteau & Rohrabacher Double Double Pickle

Catherine Parenteau and Anna Leigh Waters got off on the right foot today winning their first round match 11-0, 11-0. The #2 seeds Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher backed that up with an 11-0, 11-0 win of their own. The top seeds may be on a collision course for another Sunday showdown.

Men’s Doubles: Ignatowich Back in Action

James Ignatowich and Matt Wright advanced with an 11-3, 11-9 win and will face up and comers Jaume Martinez Vich and Augustus Ge in the round of 16. With Jack Sock exiting early today the bottom half of the draw gets a bit more open for James and Matt.

Mixed Doubles: Big Day for Selkirk

Selkirk will be well represented in the round of 16 tomorrow so make sure to tune in to the PPA’s YouTube channel and PickleballTV as Jack Sock, Catherine Parenteau, James Ignatowich, Rachel Rohrabacher and many more will all be in action.

Men’s Singles: Tellez and Duang to Face Off

Jack Sock was upset by the veteran lefty Jhonatan Medina Alvarez. James Ignatowich fell in a tight three games to Christian Alshon. On the top half of the draw that leaves Pablo Tellez to face Quang Duong for the right to play the winner of Ben Johns/Ryan Eveloff in the quarterfinals. On the bottom half of the draw  Collin Shick will look to survive Jay Devilliers to earn a potential date with Federico Staksrud.

Women’s Singles: Parenteau & Brascia Advance

Catherine Parenteau and Mary Brascia both advanced easily today. They could potentially meet in the semifinals on Saturday. On the top half Lea Jansen and Brooke Buckner look to be the top threats to Anna Leigh Waters.
