Glen Peterson
TeamSelkirk Advisory Staff Member, Glen Peterson, started his Pickleball journey after retiring from a successful career with Caterpillar in North America, Japan and France. He first took up the game in 2011 with his 82 year old father at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell, Washington. In just two years he honed skills enough to start playing professionally, and in May 2013 he competed in his first tournament as a senior player. Today, Peterson dedicates extensive time to practice and tournament play. The game has become his addiction, as he loves to compete outdoors and prefers doubles, as opposed to singles. His hard work has paid off too, as Peterson has captured numerous championships in both singles and doubles competition. When asked what his thoughts are on being one of the best Pickleball players in the world, Peterson replied, “I am thrilled to be involved in this sport as it is still emerging and love the fact that its idiosyncrasies allow seniors to compete with much younger players. I never imagined that I could be contending for Senior Gold medals in the biggest tournaments in the nation! Winning these tournaments will be much more difficult in 10-20 years as more athletes discover this extraordinary game.”
