Catherine Parenteau’s 2025 season comes to an end with a gold medal. This victory is especially meaningful, as it marks her first singles gold medal of the season and her first since 2023.
Parenteau’s route to the championship was no easy feat. Despite some noticeable absences, newer names in the sport shocked the field, with APP rising talent Katerina Stewart and PPA’s Isabella Dunlap making their semifinal debuts on Saturday. In Parenteau’s half of the draw, she had to overcome competitors Ting Chieh Wei, Lara Giltinan, and Lea Jansen before facing off against Katerina Stewart for the title.
This first-time showdown between Parenteau and Stewart for the final title of the 2025 season was something special. Parenteau started strong, building an early four-point lead that steadily grew with nearly every side-out. Her shot placement and court movement gave her the edge over the scrappy Stewart. Game one finished with Parenteau winning 11–4, but game two delivered a much closer result. Stewart held game point several times before Parenteau tied it at 10–10 and ultimately took it 12–10.
Sparta Pro Rafael Lenhard earns first bronze medal
Rafael Lenhard has had an incredible week in Daytona. Throughout the season, Lenhard has proven to be a formidable force on the men’s side, and with a win over Federico Staksrud and a close battle with Gabe Joseph in the semifinals in Daytona, he proved just that.
Lenhard earned his first PPA bronze medal on Sunday when Zane Ford retired from the match. Although fans may have been disappointed not to see the bronze medal match unfold, expect Lenhard to continue delivering strong results and podium finishes in 2026.
