The ONLY paddle for me

Moving up in rating I acquired the popular Onix Z5 with honeycomb core, graphite which helped over the first basic paddle. I decided to move up to the Selkirk Amped Omni and quickly became used to it's advantages. I cannot help but place my thumb and fingers on a paddle so the longer paddle shape is for me. When I became a snowbird between New York & Florida I did not want to take a paddle back & forth with me.... so I took the Z5 to FL. What a huge mistake! Could not play at all... so I decided to get another Selkirk. My brother clued me in to the new Vanguard. Wow!... feel like a new player... this thing has feel; It has pace...unreal...I would recommend it to the extreme.

Omni

I received my Omni Vanguard a week ago. And I have to say this is a really nice paddle. I’m 77 and 6’3” and around 225lbs. I’ve been playing Pickleball about 3 years after cutting back on Racqetball. I was playing with the Tyson McCuffin INVIKTA, which is a very nice paddle for sure. But this Omni paddle is another step up. I got the light weight because I figured I needed quicker hands more than power hits. But the Omni can still lay out some power!! The sound is different. A nice soft but powerful “whack”. Love the extra length too. The shortened grip took a couple of games to get used to. But I’m fine with it now. Oh! Be prepared for a lot of WOW recognition.

Maximum Paddle Size

I just learned that there is one more rule of measurement that must be met besides length and width. Who knew?

"In order for these paddles to be a legal paddle by USAPA standards, the width plus the height dimensions cannot exceed 24 inches. The width of the epic plus the height of the Invikta would be 24.5 inches."

The Omni is my favorite because they took back the space that would have been otherwise used for a longer handle to make room for the maximum real estate possible for actual ball to surface contact. This means Instead of a misplaced ball hitting the handle or knuckles it has a chance to hit the lower playable, paddle surface.

So, in fact they are making the maximum sized paddle, it is called the Omni.

Vanguard 2.0 Omni

I am an avid player and have tried numerous pickleball paddles over the past couple of years. The Omni shape is by far my favorite. I currently own two amped omni paddles and was playing with the original omni vanguard until recently. I just received my omni vanguard 2.0 and it plays great.

near perfect

I have playing pickleball for a year and a half now and have bought several paddles as my skills have progressed. one of the paddles i have purchased previously was the Monarch Golden Axe and at first I really liked that paddle but I noticed the quality deteriorated rather quickly. My wife purchased the Selkirk Vanguard Epic paddle and after months of play I noticed that Selkirk paddles just have that added quality factor. This lead me to purchase the Vanguard Omni paddle which has the same specifications of the Golden Axe but with a considerable upgrade in quality. The only thing I don't understand is why they didn't use the full 7.5 inch width that is allowable under USAPA.
