Professional Pickleball Joins Mainstream Sports with First-Ever Player Incentive Pool …$50,000+ in Prize Pool Available at November National Championships

Leading Equipment Manufacturer, Selkirk Sport, Makes Unprecedented Commitment to North America’s Fastest Growing Sport with $150,000 in Pool Money Offered to Players on Professional Pickleball Circuit

Hayden, ID, October 31, 2017 – The game of Pickleball is now one-step closer to joining higher profile professional sports, as Selkirk Sport, the leading high-performance paddle brand in Pickleball, today announced the sport’s first-ever Player Incentive Pool program, whereby $50,000+ in prize money will be up for grabs at the USAPA National Championships, November 4-12 at the Palm Creek RV and Resort in Casa Grande, Arizona.

To support the Company’s commitment to investing in the growth of Pickleball, at both the professional and grassroots levels, Selkirk Sport has pledged that more than $150,000 in prize money will be available during nationwide tournament play on the 2018 professional circuit.

As part of Selkirk’s non-traditional approach to marketing, the Player Incentive Pool program was created to incentivize athletes to compete with their innovative line-up of performance paddles.  $50,000+ in prize money will be on the line in Arizona, with a $3,500 top prize, if a player wins the National Men’s, National Women’s or Mixed Open Division, armed with a Selkirk paddle.  The runner-up in those respective divisions can win $2,000, with $500 going to the 3rd place finisher, if playing with a Selkirk paddle and enrolled in Selkirk’s pool program.

Highly ranked Pickleball players, Ty McGuffin, Morgan Evans, Tonja Major and Glen Peterson will lead a team of Selkirk Staff players equipped with Selkirk’s new AMPED Series paddle, as they compete at Nationals.

“We are committed to investing in the growth of the sport at the professional level, which we believe will drive growth at the grassroots level,” said Mike Barnes, Operations Manager, Selkirk Sport. “While our ultimate goal is to develop a more traditional endorsement model customary in mainstream sports such as tennis or golf, we see this incentive program as a launching pad to validate the performance attributes of our products while driving excitement among the elite players.”

Added Rob Barnes, Team Manager, Selkirk Sport, “We view this as an attractive incentive for athletes competing on the professional circuit, as it reinforces that Selkirk is committed to helping the sport reach the next level. In some instances, athletes may earn more money from our incentive program, than their tournament earnings.”

A Presidential sponsor of the upcoming National Championships, Selkirk is committed to supporting the growth of the sport at the professional level.  With an estimated 2.5 million players and growing, Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the USA. To keep up with consumer demand for information, resources and a complete guide to the game, Selkirk Sport, recently launched www.playpickleball.com, a destination website for all things Pickleball.
